Cauldron Dipped Apples
Makes 8 to 10 dipped apples

Ingredients

to 10 medium apples, stems removed
|
|
8

to 10 wooden ice cream sticks
|
|

Peanut Butter Sugar (recipe follows)
|

cups (12-ounce package) HERSHEY'®S SPECIAL DARK® Chocolate Chips or HERSHEY'®S Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips

cup shortening (do not use butter, margarine, spread or oil)
|
|

|
cup REESE'S® Creamy Peanut Butter
|
|
2/3
|
cup powdered sugar
|
|
|
|

|
|
|
1. Line tray with wax paper. Wash and dry apples; insert wooden stick into stem end of each apple.
|
|
2. Prepare Peanut Butter Sugar.
|
|
3. Melt chocolate chips and shortening in medium saucepan over low heat. Remove from heat. Add peanut butter; stir until melted and smooth. With whisk, blend in powdered sugar.
|
|
4. Dip apples into chocolate mixture; twirl gently to remove excess. Sprinkle Peanut Butter Sugar over apples. Place on prepared tray. Refrigerate until coating is firm. Store in refrigerator.
