Light Up the Sky Cake


Celebrate July Fourth with this spectacular cake.
 
Ingredients
1 package (18.25 ounces) any flavor cake mix, plus ingredients to prepare mix
1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter, softened
2-1/2 cups powdered sugar, divided
2 to 3 tablespoons milk
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  Blue food coloring
1-1/2 cups "M&M's"® Chocolate Mini Baking Bits
   
Prepare and bake cake as directed on package for 13×9-inch cake. Cool cake completely on wire rack. In large bowl beat butter until light. Add 1-1/4 cups powdered sugar; beat until fluffy. Blend in milk and vanilla. Beat in remaining 1-1/4 cups powdered sugar until frosting is smooth. Add enough food coloring to make frosting dark blue. Frost cake and decorate with "M&M's"® Chocolate Mini Baking Bits to look like exploding fireworks.
