package (about 18 ounces) chocolate or vanilla cake mix, plus ingredients to prepare mix

container (16 ounces) white frosting
Green and orange food coloring
Yellow decorating icing
Candy sprinkles
Candles (optional)
1. Prepare and bake cake mix according to package directions for two 8- or 9-inch square cakes. Cool completely before frosting.
2. Blend half of frosting and green food coloring in medium bowl until desired shade is reached. Repeat with remaining frosting and orange food coloring.
3. Place one cake layer on serving plate; frost top and sides with green frosting. Pipe stripe of icing on each side to resemble ribbon. Let frosting set before adding second cake layer. Place second cake layer slightly off-center and rotated 45 degrees from bottom layer as shown in photo. Frost top and sides with orange frosting. Pipe stripe of icing on each side to resemble ribbon.
4. Pipe additional icing on top of cake for bow and streamers as shown in photo. Decorate cake with candy sprinkles and candles, if desired.
