Oat & Dried Fruit Balls
Makes about 5 dozen balls

cups uncooked old-fashioned oats
|
|

cup flaked coconut
|
|
1
|
cup chopped dried mixed fruit
|
|
1/4
|
cup sunflower seeds or chopped walnuts
|
|
1

cup sugar
|
|
1/2
|
cup milk
|
|
1/2
|
cup butter or margarine
|

tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
|

1/4
|
teaspoon salt
|
|
1

teaspoon vanilla
|

|
Combine oats, coconut, dried fruit and sunflower seeds in large bowl; set aside. Combine sugar, milk, butter, cocoa and salt in 2-quart saucepan until blended. Heat to boiling. Boil 3 minutes, stirring constantly; remove from heat. Stir in vanilla. Pour hot sugar syrup into oat mixture; stir until well blended. When cool enough to handle, shape rounded tablespoonfuls into balls; place on waxed paper until completely cooled and firm.
