• Cover potatoes, garlic and 1 teaspoon salt with water in large saucepan. Heat to boiling; reduce heat to low and continue cooking 10 to 15 minutes or until potatoes are very tender. Drain.
• Combine potato mixture, buttermilk, butter, remaining 1/2 teaspoon salt and pepper in large mixer bowl. Beat until smooth.
Blue Cheese Mashed Potatoes
Omit garlic cloves. In step 2, add 1/4 cup crumbled blue cheese with buttermilk to potato mixture.
