Ornament Cupcakes

cup all-purpose flour

teaspoon salt
|

cup granulated sugar
|
|
1/4
|
cup firmly packed light brown sugar
|

|
cup (1/2 stick) butter, softened

1/2

cup orange juice
|
|
1/2
|
teaspoon grated orange peel
|
|
1/2
|
teaspoon vanilla extract
|

large eggs

cup "M&M's"® Semi-Sweet Chocolate Mini Baking Bits, divided

cup white frosting
|

Assorted food colorings
|
|
|
Red or black licorice whips, cut into 3-inch lengths
|
|

gumdrops, cut in half lengthwise
|
|

|
Preheat oven to 350°F. Lightly grease 16 (2-3/4-inch) muffin cups or line with paper or foil liners; set aside. In large bowl combine flour, baking powder and salt; stir in sugars. Beat in butter, orange juice, orange peel and vanilla. Beat 2 minutes. Add eggs; beat 2 minutes. Divide batter evenly among prepared muffin cups. Sprinkle evenly with 1/2 cup "M&M's"® Semi-Sweet Chocolate Mini Baking Bits. Bake 20 minutes or until toothpick inserted in centers comes out clean. Cool completely on wire racks. In small bowl combine frosting and desired food coloring. Spread frosting over cupcakes. For each ornament hanger, insert both ends of licorice piece into gumdrop half; place on cupcakes. Decorate with remaining 1/2 cup "M&M's"® Semi-Sweet Chocolate Mini Baking Bits.
