Dress 'em Up Ginger People
Makes 4 dozen cookies

Ingredients

cup (1-1/2 sticks) butter, softened
|
|
1/2
|
cup firmly packed light brown sugar
|
|
1/2
|
cup dark molasses
|
|
1
|
large egg
|
|
2-1/4
|
cups all-purpose flour
|
|

teaspoons ground cinnamon
|
|
1-1/2
|
teaspoons ground ginger
|
|
1
|
teaspoon baking powder
|
|
1/2
|
teaspoon salt
|
|
1/8
|
teaspoon ground nutmeg
|
|
1/8
|
teaspoon ground cloves
|
|
1/4
|
cup powdered sugar
|
|
1

teaspoon water
|

cup "M&M's"® Chocolate Mini Baking Bits
|

|
In large bowl cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy; beat in molasses and egg. In medium bowl combine flour, cinnamon, ginger, baking powder, salt, nutmeg and cloves; add to creamed mixture. Wrap and refrigerate dough 1 hour. Preheat oven to 350°F. Working with one-third of dough at a time on lightly floured surface, roll to 1/8-inch thickness. Cut out gingerbread people using 3-inch cookie cutters. Place about 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake 10 minutes. Cool 2 minutes on cookie sheets; cool completely on wire racks. In small bowl combine powdered sugar and water until smooth. Using icing to attach, decorate cookies with "M&M's"® Chocolate Mini Baking Bits. Store in tightly covered container.
