Worcestershire sauce is a dark, savory sauce developed in India and named after the English town, Worcester, where it was first bottled. Made from a complex and seemingly incompatible mix of ingredients, including anchovies, tamarind paste, molasses, onions, garlic and soy sauce, it is used as a seasoning in sauces, gravies and soups. It also is commonly added to the Bloody Mary cocktail.
