Tamales are a Mexican dish in which corn flour (masa harina) is made into a dough and filled with savory, and sometimes sweet, ingredients. The tamale is wrapped in dried corn husks and steamed until it is cooked through. The husks are peeled away at serving time. Traditional savory fillings include shredded beef, pork, turkey and chicken mixed with a spicy sauce. Sweet tamales are filled with fruits.
