Rugelach refers to small crescent-shaped eastern European pastries or cookies. They are usually made with a cream-cheese dough that is cut into triangles and shaped around a filling of raisins (or other dried fruit) and nuts, jam, chocolate or sweetened ground poppy seed paste. Rugelach are often part of the Jewish celebration of Hanukkah.
