A lingonberry is a small, tart red wild berry, related to the cranberry, that grows in mountainous areas, especially in Sweden. It is rarely, if ever, sold fresh in this country. The berries are prepared and sold as preserves and sauces. They are used on crêpes, Swedish-style pancakes, puddings and as a sauce for certain duck dishes.
