A fruitcake is a traditional holiday cake made from dried and candied fruits, fruit peels, and nuts that are held together by a dense batter. It is often baked in a loaf or tube pan at a low temperature. Liquor, such as brandy, is often an ingredient or can be added after baking. Wrapped in cheesecloth and moistened with liquor as needed, fruitcakes can last for months stored in a cool, dry place.
